There is a great competition in phones under 10,000 segment. Almost all the companies are trying to serve with better features at affordable price. This year large range of phones are introduced for Indian customers by different companies.

Xiaomi, which is already popular due to Redmi Note 3 and Mi Max, has recently launched a new phone in 10,000 below segment. The phone is named it as Redmi 3s. Though it has been launched in 2 different versions  Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime. Xiaomi was launched 2 years earlier in marker, since then Xiaomi has managed to maintain its reputation for making affordable and better smartphones.

Design

Both versions of phone are having metal bodies which makes its look awesome. It look like Redmi Note 3 with 5 inch display. Design is very much similar to Redmi Note 3. Phone is packed with capacitive touch navigation bar. Thickness of the phone is about 8.5mm which means it is thicker than Mi Max. Like Redmi Note 3 fingerprint sensor is at below the rear camera and in the center of back panel. On the right side Sim Tray is provided which is a hybrid Sim Slot.

Specifications and software

Both the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (MMB29) processor, with four cores of 1.1GHz and of 1.4GHz, and an integrated Adreno 505 GPU.The only difference between two versions is of RAM and built in storage.  The Redmi 3S includes 2GB of RAM with 16GB of inbuilt storage, whereas the Redmi 3S Prime has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The Redmi 3s and Redmi 3s Prime has a 5-inch IPS display and resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Screen is very vibrant with very good sunlight visibility. In comparison to Redmi Note 3, sunlight visibility is less. Colors are very decent and sharpness is high.

Notable feature of the Redmi 3S Prime is very large 4100mAh battery which will attract almost all customers. Battery backup of phone is even better from Redmi Note 3. There’s a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera which supports 1080p video recording.

The device is based on MIUI 7.5 which comprises Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Many features of Marshmallow are absent and they may be rolled out in upcoming updates.

Performance

There is no lagging during multitasking and this will set standard of smartphone in this price range. There is no heating issues during intense gaming as well as while charging the phone. With decent scores in Benchmark in my views has very good performance and a good budget phone.

Camera

It takes sharp images with good detailing of image. No noise is there in indoor shots even when zoomed in. Low light images may disappoint but using HDR will make the photos fine. Both front and back cameras are good. The feature which took attention is capturing videos at 1080p quality.
